ABOUT EARTH GUARDIANS
Earth Guardians is a non-profit organisation founded in 1992 in Hawaii.
Being a global organisation gives a chance to younger generations across the world to take action and stand up for themselves. It trains young leaders to defend their point of view and change matters linked with climate change, sustainability or social justice.
Earth Guardians is composed of five staff people and dozens of volunteers and thousands of members. It has crews in 57 countries, reaches more than 57m people through social media and has around 450 direct action campaigns.
It is thanks to the Earth Guardians Crews that all these actions and projects have been and are possible. A crew is a group of young activists that come together to pursue sustainable or social projects and goals. They represent the heart and the soul of the organization.
Earth Guardians most recent projects are for example the organized climate strikes through 264 crews around the world or the plantation of over 100k trees through Earth Guardians Africa, India, and US crews.

WHAT WE DO
From promoting and establishing a sustainability seal within the gastronomic sector in cooperation with “Greentable” to contributing to the making of a community garden and empowering the youth via workshops at local schools, we are committed to protecting the earth, the water, the air and the atmosphere so future generations inherit a healthy, just and sustainable planet.
Furthermore, we would like to raise environmental awareness among the young generation through educational school presentations and simple learning videos. Teaching them about the important aspect that even small consumers can contribute to a better future by slightly adapting their living habits or paying more attention to little things such as waste separation, is what we strive for.
As an environment-conscious group of students we take the leap in our immediate surroundings, bearing in mind that change does not occur unless we do so. We look forward to contributing with our grain of sand on numerous projects to save our Earth and our future. Join our will to make a valuable impact and reach environmental milestones.
ABOUT OUR TEAM
The Earth Guardians Mannheim crew was founded by a group of students in 2019. Our aim is to work with our community to shape our environment to be more sustainable. This goal is to be reached via various projects, involving local actors, to make a step towards a greener and more socially responsible city. To make this change happen we follow some core values and we believe that these principles are the roots of our team’s strength and success.
Proximity
We are very attached to the notion of proximity because we want to remind to each and every one of us that we can have a huge impact. Our belief is that by acting locally we will be able to get past the mind barrier people set themselves “even if I take action it has no impact”. This mindset is mostly set up because people tend to believe that the repercussions occur on the other side of the planet. By bringing the repercussions of their actions back to their environment people will realize that every little step is worthwhile and has an impact.
People must also take conscience that climate change is not only happening on the other side of the world but also in their backyard. Medias are involved in this misconception due to the fact they essentially communicate over distant disaster rather than the slow but destructive change happening here. To correct the shot, we want to build up a regular stream of information, challenges and actions to take part in locally.

As said, we want to work with our community to make a change, we want to involve them. By making them feel involved we aim to increase the impact their actions have. Psychologically you tend to be more attached to things you put effort in (Ikea Effect). We want to be in contact with our community through several channels, one of them is through the sensibilization of the youth. The youth is, we believe, the greatest actor of change and that’s why we give speeches in schools.
Awareness
In some decades, a judge named Sun will find guilty and sentence to death a man named Human. What an irony, when you know that Human has built all the systems responsible for his judgment and ignored his own warnings. What an irony, when you know that this is not the next Spielberg film scenario.
Therefore, it is our task to take our responsibilities. We must adapt the systems and engines we have once invented, the habits we have developed, the consumption model we are used to. Raising awareness is the first step of the process, then we want to give everyone the tools to act for the environment. Finally the purpose is to enable everybody to reduce their ecological impact.

We do believe that by acting locally and being near to the people we can provide them the keys to the understanding of Anne-Marie Bonneau’s quote. The actions we undertake locally have to involve the people, indeed, human beings need to see that their efforts pay off and that their commitments improve the sustainability of their local environment.
Moreover, climate change concerns the entire planet Earth. Becoming conscious that global warming is composed of the word “global” is a key point in the fight to save our future. Action has to be taken at every scale, once we are aware of it, we will bring in the change.
Raising awareness involves different steps, making people realize what’s going on, giving them the keys to act and involving them. So, everyone can be an actor for this change, what a dream, everybody taking part together in the great movie that is our history. So let’s change for the first time the course of a movie!
Team-spirit
Success is not the story of one human being, it is the story of a team. We believe in others. We believe in the value of each individual. We believe that together we can achieve incredible things.
We face one of the biggest issues of human history. In those times, we have to make things happen to overcome climate change as a community and in cohesion. Team spirit not only brings people together but also goes pair with the human aspect of our actions, that’s why we have made it a key point of our Crew.
Sometimes you are faster acting on your own, but you will always go further acting as a team. We build our projects upon each other’s strengths, because not only do the team members arrive with their skillset, but they also teach it to one another by sharing their knowledge. We believe that the diversity of our members is the most valuable asset of Earth Guardians Mannheim as it increases the impact of our actions.

My motivations >
Inspire. Making a positive change. That is what Earth Guardians is about and motivated me to found a Crew, here, in Mannheim. Since my childhood, I have always been outside playing soccer or spending entire days in the French forest. The greatness and beautifulness of this nature motivate me to create inspiring solutions with Earth Guardians to overcome the challenge of our history. If we can destroy something, we have the power to save it together !

What animates me >
Growing up in a family who was and is concerned about the future of our planet, sustainability and environmental matters have always been a big part of my life. Being sustainable and eco-friendly are two of my biggest values and therefore taking action and standing up for what I think is right seems natural to me and should be to everyone. Stop being passive. Take action because it is your planet, our planet and most of all our future.

My goals >
In the past years people became more aware of the excessive use of our natural resources as well as the plastic in the oceans and looked out for sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. But now there are traces of microplastic in our food and temperatures keep rising nevertheless.
It will need actions on an international level to preserve our planet for future generations. At Earth Guardians Mannheim we start by taking actions in our city today.
